Shah Rukh Khan called the King of Vulgarity by Bangladesh paper

IT IS clear now, a conservative country like Bangladesh should not invite Bollywood actors to perform in their land. A weekly tabloid from Bangladesh called Bollywood’s most sought after actor, Shah Rukh Khan, the 'King of Vulgarity'. The paper condemned King Khan for his allegedly vulgar behaviour and objected to the actor’s performance and dancing “half nude Russian girls”, who were there as cheerleaders. However, the show was a huge hit with a massive crowd of almost 50,000 to have attended it.

One weekly paper objected that the actor has even flouted the country's law by smoking in public and in the front of cameras. Some tabloids blamed airport authorities for giving special treatment to the actor for being allowed to use the VVIP terminal of the Dhaka airport.

According to the article, Khan himself was paid $200,000 and the rest of his troupe was paid separately. Other performers included Arjun Rampal, Rani Mukherji, Eesha Koppikhar and Dia Mirza. Interestingly, the article has gone on to make some very strong allegations like the money paid by Antar Showbiz to SRK and his troupe was obtained through illegal means.

King Khan's fans have strongly objected to all the allegations made against him.

It's time for 'Munni Baadnam Hui' Vs 'Sheila Ki Jawani'

IT’S THE time again for item songs this New Year. Well! Bollywood has started with its own countdowns from best and worst films, the best and worst events, the best and worst dressed celebrities and not to forget mentioning, the best and worst Bollywood songs of 2010. ‘Munni Badnam Hui’ Salman Khan’s Dabang songs were choreographed by Raju Khan, Shabina Khan, and Farah Khan while Farah Khan choreographed the item number Bollywood latest hot Item song ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ for the movie Tess Mar Khan.

Both songs are the top contenders for the title of ‘The Best Item Song of 2010’ and became hottest flavors of the season and at running for the top spot for the year 2010. Both songs are fantastic, however people are jumping to do comparisons among best. If judging by the alternative, Tees Maar Khan’s ‘Sheila Ki Jawaani’ is well on its way to beating ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ as the hottest item song of the year 2010.

When item song ‘Munni Badnaam hui’ was released after long time in Bollywood films its created furor of sorts and upsets almost senior citizens of country with aches and pains, who use Zandu balm for ease. But music lovers like it and song became the hot overnight. With in few weeks of Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha starrer Dabaang, the song ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ was a hit all over and considered the best item song ever.

Now, with release of item number ‘Sheila Ki Jawaani’ from Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif starrer Tees Maar Khan it has started facing stiff competition. And when promos of ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ aired on television and the internet, ‘Munni’ was no longer considered the flavor of the season.

It is interesting now; both songs are playing in cabs, autorickshaws and dance bars, high-end cars, nightclubs and iPods of college kids. ‘Sheila ki Jawani’ is little upsetting the ladies with named of Sheila and their husbands.
It is still to witness the reaction of Delhi Chief Minister whose name also attach with Sheila. The two songs and their leading ladies have been pitted against each other in almost every Bollywood website and other social networking sites. Actually both songs are simply item numbers in their respective films and have extremely different in appeals and in the terms of visuals. While ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ is a regular but fast paced item number with loads of energy, ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ is something like Bhojpuri-dance-number-meets-the-Broadway-musical. The USP of ‘Sheila ki Jawani’ is Katrina Kaif who is an established actress, however Maliaka Arora who danced on ‘Munni Badnam Hui’ remain seen as undisrupted item number queen of Bollywood is known as for her exceptional dancing skill.

The cyber world is constantly buzzing about the best song among two. The social networking and micro blogging sites like twitter, facebook , in addition of youtube have started individual communities to check out, which song the fans are more following.

“Sheila ki Jawani” online community is already boosting more members than ‘Munni Badnam Hui’. On YouTube there are more viewers for ‘Sheila ki jawani’ in two weeks of uploading of promos in compared to ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ which uploaded as full video. ‘Sheila ki Jawani’ remain hot and favorite among viewers from India and world.

Lady Gaga named 'Most Provocative Celebrity of The Year

HLN’s “Showbiz Tonight” has declared Lady Gaga as its “Most Provocative Celebrity of The Year.”

The Starr Report has learned that Gaga bested finalists Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson, Lindsay Lohan and Miley Cyrus for the highly coveted honor, bestowed each year by the popular entertainment show anchored by AJ Hammer and Brooke Anderson.

“The key was that the mention of Lady Gaga’s name sparks a visceral reaction,” the New York Post quoted the show’s executive producer David Levine as saying.

“And she’s had the most continued interest among all the nominees. She became the first person to reach 1 billion [views] on YouTube and she has 6 million followers on Twitter.

“She’s given passionate speeches at the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell rally in Portland [Maine] and her plea to end bullying had an impact. She also revealed that she has Lupus and then there was ‘the finger’ incident at the Mets game.

“She also has a hit album. Her reach is immeasurable,” Levine said.

Levine said roughly 40 HLN and CNN staffers vote on the “Most Provocative Celebrity of the Year” selection — and only four votes went for Lohan.

“The day before we voted, it was down to Lohan and Charlie Sheen. It was a little obvious and I sent out a note to everyone telling them it was their last opportunity [to nominate someone],” he said.

“Somebody threw Lady Gaga’s name into the ranks; we hadn’t really discussed her...and when we told AJ and Brooke, they were like, ‘That’s a no-brainer,’” Levine added.

Britney Spears snared the honor in 2006 and 2007, with Sarah Palin winning in 2008 and Jon Gosselin in 2009.

Aamir and Shah Rukh war goes global

TWO OF the biggest names in Bollywood, who by many are adjudged with numero uno positions in their own respects are once again pitched against each other. Although the race for clinching the best position was confined only in India, this time, the much talked about Khan war has gone global.

The two ace Khan's of Bollywood, Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan will be working in two highly coveted Hollywood projects in 2011. While Aamir will be seen in Oscar winner director of Slumdog Millionaire Danny Boyle's Maximum City, SRK will be acting in Paul Schrader's Extreme city.

Maximum city featuring Aamir Khan is based on novel by the same name which was widely talked about since it hit the shelves in 2004. The book is based on the socio-political analysis of history and people of Mumbai.

Whereas Shah Rukh Khan’s Extreme city is a story of slums in Mumbai and people living in it. The film will be produced by Anubhav Sinha and speculations are rife that Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo Di Caprio will also share space with SRK in the movie.

Ironically, both the movies have, more or less, the same story plot but will have different perspectives about the Mumbai.

Dum maro dum sold without Dev Anand's consent

THE EVERGREEN song “Dum maro dum” sung by Asha Bhosle from the movie Hare Rama Hare Krishna, a trendsetter movie which was released in 1971 based on life of youth obsessed with drugs, has slipped out of Dev Anand’s hand. The anthem of seditious youth living in their own world has been sold without any concent of Dev Anand. The evergreen actor filmmaker was in a state of shock ever since the song was sold without his knowledge.

On Wednesday the veteran actor said that the song was his and his banner Navketans alone, the music company Saregama(HMV) which holds the rights to the film had sold the rights of the song to Ramesh Sippy and his son Rohan sippy, without informing Dev Anand.

CEO of Saregama(HMV), Apurva Nagpal confirmed that the track has been sold to the Sippys. "We sold the copyright of Dum maro dum to the Sippys, and no, we did not see the need to inform Dev Anand. He might have an emotional connect with the song but he has absolutely no legal rights over it."

Not too far ago it were the Sippys who were shouting and screaming at director Ram Gopal Verma claiming that he had murdered the blockbuster movie Sholay in his remake claiming it was creative vandalism.

The reason why Rohan Sippy bought this song is that currently he is working on his new movie Dum maro dum, which revolves around a drug syndicate in Goa. Music Composer Pritam has been given the charge to work on the new version of revolutionary song.

The irony for 87 year old superstar is not only to see his creative product gone into another hand but too accept the original song being reshaped in modern version.

Akshay Kumar’s rivals doing action? No comments

It’s been long since actor Akshay Kumar’s kicked some serious butt on-screen, and the star reveals that he’s in no hurry to do an out-and-out action film either. Coming from the Action King himself, this may disappoint several of his fans who’re already missing out on a dose of his onscreen kicks and punches.
Akshay however clarifies that he may not be doing an action film, but that doesn’t mean that he’s giving up action! “Action’s in my blood, how can I give it up?” he shoots back. “It’s not an addiction for me, but more like a form of worship and I’ll keep doing it for as long as I can.”
The actor — who’s made comedy his forte of late — does admit though that for now he’s more interested in doing films that dabble in the comic genre. That also explains the slew of entertainers lined up for the star including Farah Khan’s forthcoming film, Desi Boys, Patiala House and Joker among others.
“I am more keen on doing films with wholesome entertainment. But my films, no matter what, the genre will have a certain amount of action involved. It may not be the typical maar-dhaad kinds, but will have some daredevil action sequences for sure,” he says.
Incidentally, while he’s high on comedy, his contemporaries — Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, et al — seem to be gearing up for some heavy-duty action in the coming year. “I won’t comment on their choices, and I’m happy with mine. I’ve always followed my own rules and never done a film because that’s what everyone else is doing,” he says, adding that for him to do a hard-core action film, it has to have something that he hasn’t done on- screen before.
“Jumping off trains, hanging from helicopters, riding on planes, the chase, the drive, speed, thrills, the kicks and chops…what else is left? Playing Spiderman maybe,” he laughs. Well, son Aarav for sure won’t be complaining about this one.

ABHISHEK BACHCHAN will not feature on his iconic father's show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, as per the rules of the show which says that “as per the rules and regulation of the company that owns the original rights of KBC, relatives of the anchor are not permitted to participate in the show. There's a signed contract with a clause in this regard”.

This is not the first instance where a member from the Bachchan family was barred by Amitabh to appear on the show. Earlier, it was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who did not appear on the show for the promotion of her film Action Replayy despite actors being present.

Although Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, Abhishek’s upcoming movie which is a crucial release for him, the host chose to abide by the rules of the show and invited director Ashutosh Gowariker and the leading lady of the movie Deepika Padukone who have recorded an episode with Amitabh sans Abhishek.

For the Grand Finale show on December 9, channel had planned to bring the entire Bachchan clan on air, but due to above mentioned rules, the idea was dropped. They have now proposed to bring Dharmendra aboard making it 'Sholay' special.

Ajit Thakur, CEO, of the channel said, “We were indeed in advanced talks with the Bachchan family to come on the show. However, it finally didn't work out. Even Abhishek is missing in the episode featuring his colleagues for the promotion of their film."

However, the channel's personnel claim that the contract rules are not applicable for special episodes.

Hrithik-Ash may come on board for Vishal Bharadwaj's next

ACE FILM director Vishal Bharadwaj may soon rope in Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai in his adaptation of the famous Shakespeare play, Hamlet. The pair which has already set the screens ablaze with their sizzling on screen chemistry in movies like Dhoom-2, Jodhaa Akbar and the very recent Guzaarish are the director's first choice in the adaptation.

Rumours are strife that if the casting materialises, Hrithik will be seen playing the role of Prince Hamlet of Denmark and Aishwarya will be seen as Ophelia. Incidentally, Vishal had earlier maintained that he wanted to make three Shakespearean adaptations. Vishal had earlier adapted Macbeth in Maqbool andBard's Othello in Omkara. Like his earlier films too, the adaptation will be pertaining to the Indian settings and will be very dissimilar to the original play but the crux of the story will be same.

Sources have stated that Vishal has already met Hrithik and Aishwarya with Hamlet as he was charged about doing the last of his Shakespearean trilogy. In the past, he has approached both Hrithik and Aishwarya. Somehow things haven't worked out. This time, he's determined to make it.

Meanwhile, Guzaarish found itself entangled in the legal web as the story is said to be plagiarised. As per Akhil Rajendra Dwivedi, who is a struggling script writer and a small time film maker, he has accused Sanjay Leela Bhansali of taking inspiration from the formers story when he narrated it to the director during a 'five minute' meeting in Bhansali's office. However, Bhansali has rubbished the claims and has instructed his lawyers to look into the matter when he receives a legal notice.

Music bestows happiness

THERE IS a difference between a house and a home. A house is just a structure, but home includes the people who live there as a family and look after each other. It is also decorated according to the choice of the members of the family. Once you go out somewhere you are keen to return to your place of dwelling and feel greatly satisfied. It is also maintained off and on to provide big comfort to everyone. In fact, home is where the heart is. A house is just a place to live in, but a home is where you can relax and your memories are linked with it, you have a family life. In fact, your soul also stays there with you. It is a place where you like to say and nurture it well.

Apart from many other essential things, a good home must have music systems. It is said that all music is beautiful; it is also the food of love; if there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music; music expresses that which can’t be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. It is not always enough to listen to music: we also love to talk about it, think about it and even dream about it. And these quotes are sure to fuel any conversation.

Music is well said to be the speech of angels. Nothing is better than music.... It has done more for us than we have the right to hope for. Light quirks of music, broken and uneven, make the soul dance upon a jig of heaven. Music is a language by whose means messages are elaborated, that such messages can be understood by many but sent out only by few and that it alone among all the languages unites the contradictory character of being at once intelligible and untranslatable - these facts make the creator of music a being like the gods.

Besides, music therapy helps reduce anxiety and stress. Hence it has become essential for all age groups to avail the benefits of this therapy for peace and mind and improving concentration. It is pertinent to mention that music therapy is in vogue in the Western countries and it is even practiced in India. Music records (played on the gramophones), songs (and their in-depth lyrics), and tunes, essentially of yesteryears are much in demand as they bring down the stress level and also increases the concentration power of the listeners, and they go down the memory lane, and remember their earlier times.

Shah Rukh-Farah feud hotting up again

THE MUCH talked about Shah Rukh Khan-Farah Khan spat seems to have gained momentum once again with the release date of latter’s film ‘Tees Maar Khan’ approaching. It is a well known fact that both SRK and Farah were close friends before the hell broke loose and started sharing cold vibes with one another.

According to reports, King Khan has persuaded head honchos of Eros International, Sunil Lulla and Kishore, to postpone the release of Ajay-Kajol starrer ‘Toonpur Ka Superhero’ till December 24 when Farah's ‘Tees Maar Khan’ is slated to release to give it a tough competition.

It is said that Shah Rukh has taken advantage of his friendship with Kishore and Sunil to torment his old friend Farah. It is a well known fact that Farah had planned to make ‘Tees Maar Khan’ with Shah Rukh, but he gave no enthusiastic response leading to a split in their relationship. As a result, Farah went on to rope in SRK’s rival, Akshay Kumar and the feud has never subsided since then.

However, the producers of ‘Toonpur Ka Superhero’ have denied any SRK’s influence in their decision to postpone their film’s release to December 24, but insiders reveal that King Khan is miffed with Farah and is hell bent on to belittle her.

On the contrary, it is said that Farah has also played a spoof on Shah Rukh in ‘Tees Maar Khan’ where Akshay is playing an over-expressive, intense actor who suffers from backache and has to fly off to London for treatment- which clearly resembles Shah Rukh.

There is another instance in the story when Akshay is approached for a role by an international filmmaker named Danny, but he makes him wait for hours and then refuses to do the role which eventually goes to Anil Kapoor who eventually wins Oscar and Akshay is left ruing his decision.

It is a known fact that British director Danny Boyle had first approached King Khan for his movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, which he turned down and Anil was roped in who was praised for his work and won international acclaim.

Quite ironically, Farah once said that she can’t even imagine of thinking of a film without Shah Rukh leave aside making, but where are they two now? Nobody knows how far these two will go on to vent their fire.

Anne Hathaway and James Franco to host 83rd Academy Awards 2011

POPULAR YOUTH actors Anne Hathaway and James Franco have been picked to host the greatest awards ceremony in the field of film and cinema-Oscars. The hosts picked this year are by far the youngest actors to host this event with Anne Hathaway being 28 and Franco 32.

This is news as the regular choices for the awards have been Steve Martin, Whoopi Goldberg or Billy Crystal, but, this year they seem to be trying to give it a fresh look by making the “fresh” faces the hosts.

Interestingly, both the hosts are likely to be nominated in the Best Actor and Best Actress category for their films “127 hours” and “Love and Other Drugs” respectively. Anne Hathaway is likely to perform a dance number too in the ceremony.

In the 83rd Academy Awards the nomination list was extended to ten last year. But, there is no record-breaking hit like “Avatar” this year but there sure are crowd-pullers like “The Social Network”, “Toy Story 3” and critic’s choice “Winter’s Bone.” With Oscars changing their approach, this surely is a measure to pull in more ratings, grab more eyeballs for the event.

Otherwise, a ceremony of such stature would not be given in hands of actors who are too new in the industry, the Academy Awards do deserve to be hosted by the best and these new actors might be the best but they still haven’t been long enough in the industry to prove that!
